Whew! The UK is amazing and I’ve had a fantastic time! If I were to say all of the things I did in the past ten days… Wow. Let’s try to summarize them:

  • Halloween party in the University of Edinburgh
  • Climbed Arthur’s Seat in Scotland
  • Scottish whiskey tour
  • British Museum
  • National Portrait Gallery
  • Seeing the Royal Ballet: ChromaThe Human SeasonsRite of Spring
  • Stratford-upon-Avon and seeing the Royal Shakespeare Company perform Richard II with David Tennant as the lead (!!!)
  • Big Ben, Westminster Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament
  • Proper Hamburger (mmmm veggie burgers, tasty)
  • Watching Fawlty Towers in ENGLAND!
  • Sherlock Holmes Museum
  • Dillinger Escape Plan concert
  • Abbey Road Studios

Oh man, Dillinger was awesome. Laura bought us tickets a few weeks ago, saying something along the lines of “Hey this band sounds like something you enjoy” and I was all “ummm yes.” Lots of fun – the two opening bands were more along instrumental post-metal/post-rock, which surprised me with it being Dillinger and all. Weinman and Puciato are showmen in the greatest sense of the word, and later today Laura and I chatted with Weinman and his wife at the merch table for a good half hour. Great guy, and a great concert! (Laura did not approve of mathcore, she shall be holding this over my head for the rest of my life.)
